OUR VALUES
Core Values:
Trusting in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, Seoul Union Church accepts the Apostles' Creed as its basic statement of Christian Faith and Fellowship and declares its purpose to obey Jesus Christ in accordance with His will as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. Upon this foundation of our faith, we covenant with one another and with God to live and labor together as true disciples of Jesus Christ. (Seoul Union Church Constitution, Article III)
We Value The Bible
In a world of hype and spin, deceit and misinformation, where all truth is considered to be relative, we value the Holy Scriptures as the only source of objective truth. We believe the Bible is the written Word of God, given by inspiration of His Spirit in order to enable people to understand who God is and to discover His unchanging decrees and purposes.
?nbsp;Believing also that humans can only truly understand themselves and the true purpose and meaning of life through relating intelligently with their Creator. We endeavor to faithfully preach and teach the scripture's eternal, transforming truths through our worship services and small groups to the end that all may become mature in Him.
?nbsp; We use the Bible as God's direction for our lives and our church as we navigate through all of life's challenges and all of the social and cultural changes which we face.
We Value People
?nbsp; We believe: the human race is the apex of God's creation, each unique individual being more precious than anything in creation, and that we were created to live eternally in a loving, worshipful relationship with our Creator.
?nbsp;Because we believe in the scriptural charge given to all believers in the Great Commission, we intentionally strive to introduce Jesus to others, sharing the love of God as it is presented through the good news of forgiveness and new life in Christ.
We Value Worship
?nbsp; We foster worship that is both biblically correct and culturally relevant, both reverent and joyful.
?nbsp; We desire that our worship services bring the worshiper into a life-changing, dynamic experience of and with the living God.
We Value Biblical Community
We value biblical community in a world in which the hallmark of the twentieth century person, even though a relational being, is alienation: alienation from self and alienation from others, both of which are rooted in alienation from God. Having come into a relationship with God, we discover that we have become members of a unique society centered in that relationship. A community that is to be modeled on the “one another" imperatives of the New Testament: love one another, forgive one another, build up one another, encourage one another, care for one another, and serve one another.
